Welcome to Tam’s site. This is the latest update to my site, this time using WordPress. I set up some permalinks, so most old links should work. Let me know if you find any problems. Also I’d be interested in any better content management solution suggestions
A little bit about me: I’m Tamsin, a 30 year old from Manchester, UK. I lived there for the first 22 years of my life, through school, college and my 4-year Master’s degree in “Physics with Astrophysics” at the University of Manchester, where I graduated in 2002 with a 2:1 MPhys(hons). Both of the folks and both of my brothers still live there, so it’s kinda home.
I then spent two years in Birmingham either side of a year in Oxford, working towards a PhD in Particle Physics. I worked on the CERN ATLAS experiment (one of the particle physics detectors that will be on the LHC ring when it gets switched on), so spent a bit of time at CERN, as well as visits to Prague, Dublin, Mainz and Heidelberg.
I then got a job, finally, in IT consultancy, based in Guildford. It keeps me out of trouble.
Apart from physics, I have numerous hobbies and interests, and lots of buddies I like to spend time with. There’s albums of photos from all different things I like to do – the favourite being backpacking across the countryside with anyone who’ll come with me. Feel free to browse…
